1. Who we are
Meal2Grocery ("we", "us", "our") is a household meal-planning and grocery-list application operated as a personal project. Questions about this policy can be directed to 85ernest@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: your name and email address, provided when you register.
- Household data: meal names, ingredient lists, weekly plans, grocery list items, and shop/price information you enter.
- Usage data: an activity log recording which actions you and household members take (e.g., "added meal", "checked grocery item") — visible only within your household.
- Session data: a secure HTTP-only cookie that keeps you logged in during your session.
- Login attempts: your IP address is temporarily recorded to protect against brute-force login attacks.
We do not collect payment information, precise device location, or any data from third-party advertisers.
3. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the Meal2Grocery service.
- To share household data (meals, plans, grocery lists) with other members of your household.
- To send email invitations to household members you choose to invite.
- To protect the security and integrity of the service.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties.
4. Data sharing
Your data is shared only within your household (members you explicitly invite). We do not share your information with any external companies, advertisers, or analytics providers. The application is self-hosted; your data is stored on a server we control.
5. Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting 85ernest@gmail.com. Login-attempt records are purged automatically after 24 hours.
6. Cookies
We use a single session cookie to authenticate you. This cookie is HTTP-only, cannot be accessed by JavaScript, and expires when your session ends or you sign out. We do not use tracking, advertising, or analytics cookies.
7. Security
Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes and are never stored in plain text. All pages are served over HTTPS. We use CSRF tokens on all forms to prevent cross-site request forgery.
8. Children's privacy
Meal2Grocery is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Your rights
You may access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data at any time. Contact us at 85ernest@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
